Day 4 event was going to Warren & Annabelle’s. Warren’s magic show was extremely fun. We had good seats up close and there was a good audience. Highly recommend it to anyone who goes to Maui.

Today’s adventure was involved taking a pontoon boat to various spots and snorkle. Blue Water Rafting was the outfit that took us around the Maui coast. Waking up before sunrise was not the most fun thing but in the end it was worth it. After the standard safety talk we sped off to Crazy Train. Once we were done doing sharp-turned donuts, we cruised the coastline checking out 219 year old lava flows forming coves and cool rock formations from lava cooling at various temps. All that was fun but our goal was to snorkle, our destination, Malokini. With “I’m on a Boat” blasting we were off. The cool thing about Malokini is the clear water and the 300 feet drop off. The water was blue and freaking deep. The fish were cool and of fairly good size. We cruised around the crater and went inside to do more snorklng. There wasn’t as many fish but the views of the drop off from the reef were awe inspiring. Again, the water was clear blue and deep. Got some good photos and video but those will not be posted until I get back. Day 2 consisted of some snorkling, grocery shopping, eating, scouting for sunset shots and sunset viewing. After breakfast walked over to Black Rock for some sun and snorkling. This snorkling adventure had better results than the previous day. Saw more fish and the water was more clear than the day before. However the shore break here was rather strong which made it difficult to get out. Once I got out to the point there were fish swinging around the reef and a turtle was spotted. Unfortunately it took off before I could get to the spot. One thing is how easy it is to loose track of where you are. One time I stopped to see that I was about 300 yards off shore in 40 feet deep water and another time close to getting wash up against some rocks. When I came back to shore a wave slammed me into the sand. After that got some food, groceries, watched the sunset and BBQed some steak and fish. Tomorrow have to be up by 5:30am for a boat snorkling trip. From what I have been told there ate guaranteed to be turtles. So this was the first full day in Maui. If you follow my Twitter or Facebook you will pretty get the gist of the day. Woke up and had a delicious breakfast at The Gazebo. Snorkled for a bit. The was a turtle that we spotted off shore but I was unable to get to it. The water was silty and the current was stronger that expected. After that we went to Iao Valley and hike for a bit and took some photos. Next it was on to Costco to get rations and that back to the time share to check in. Watched the sunset over dinner at Longboards, walked around and now it’s bed time. So I originally wrote up a decent recap of the flight but it didn’t get saved. Here is the short version. The flight went rather well. For being 5 1/2 hours it went quick. Apparently American Airlines and NBC have a deal cause they showed an episode of The Office as well as other ads for NBC shows. Then we watched The Soloist. With time to kill I watched a good chunk of Thats It Thats All on my iPhone. Flying at 38,000 feet provided some cool views of the sunset and the clouds over the Pacific. It was nighttime when we arrived so there wasn’t anything to do but eat at Panda Express and go to bed. Stay tuned for today’s recap late this evening. |
